Guggul: One of the
Best Cholesterol Control Supplements
It helps
lower cholesterol naturally.
Guggul (commiphora mukul) is an herb from India where
numerous studies have shown that it significantly helps
lower cholesterol naturally. Guggul contains a mixture of lipid
steroids called guggulipid that have shown cholesterol-lowering
effect and help maintaining
normal ranges of cholesterol levels. Other studies have shown
that standardized extracts of guggulipid (guggulsterones) not only
lower levels of cholesterol and other blood fats but also
raise HDL
cholesterol (good cholesterols). This consequently promotes
heart
health and protects the heart against atherosclerosis vascular
disease (heart disease).
In 1986, guggulipid was
approved for sale in India as a
natural cholesterol lowering herb
and agent. With its effective power and good safety record through
many years of traditional Ayurvedic use and modern clinical trails,
gugguls is considered one of the best
cholesterol lowering foods.

Guggul works to balance conditions of
both low and high cholesterol whether brought on by diet, lack of
exercise, chronic stress, or genetic tendency. Guggul does not
create any of the harmful side effects associated with drugs
commonly used for cholesterol disorders. Studies have suggested that
Guggul (guggulsterones) has the ability to lower the cholesterol by
inhibiting cholesterol synthesis in the liver and by promoting the
excretion of cholesterol. Furthermore, animal and laboratory
experiments have shown that guggulipids also provide some
anti-inflammation effects that may
relieve arthritis pain and other inflammatory conditions.

4.5 g. of purified gum Guggul in two divided doses daily for 16
weeks. Serum cholesterol and serum triglyceride levels decreased at
the end of the 4th to 8th weeks. HDL cholesterol showed a gradual
increase while HDL and LDL cholesterol showed significant decrease
at all time points.

Scientists have been
studying the Hypolipidemic activity of Guggul for over 20 years.
Guggul proved extremely effective in regulating cholesterol,
triglycerides, and phospholipids in both types of research. Extracts
of Guggul have been shown to lower the serum cholesterol level in
chicks, and have shown similar effects in rabbits, rats and domestic
pigs)
